Lakeview Learning is the realization of a shared dream between two dedicated homeschool moms and passionate advocates for innovative education. With combined backgrounds in homeschooling, vocational rehabilitation and education, social work, and community engagement, they envisioned a learning community that would preserve the flexibility and independence of home education while creating more opportunities for students to learn, explore, and connect with others.
As home-educating parents, their passion for personalized education and hands-on learning experiences became the foundation for Lakeview Learning. Families remain in control of their children’s primary education, while Lakeview provides supplemental classes, physical education, field learning experiences, and opportunities for friendship and community.

What to expect during the 2026–2027 school year:
We expanded our Monday drop-off In-Person Classes, giving students even more opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. These days bring students together for collaborative learning, group projects, discussion, and hands-on experiences in a structured group-learning environment, complete with lunchtime and recess! Current offerings include Art & STEAM, Music, Communication, Debate, and Natural Science Studies, with new opportunities continuing to develop as our community grows.
On Tuesdays, our Physical Education program continues in collaboration with Elyria Parks & Recreation. During these two-hour sessions, students exercise both their bodies and their minds through a combination of free play, skill-building, and organized games. Students gain experience with a variety of group activities, sports, and games while developing teamwork, confidence, and healthy movement habits.
Our Field Learning Activities continue each Wednesday, taking learning beyond a traditional classroom and into the community. These experiences combine instructor-led educational programming with time for exploration, discovery, and social connection at destinations such as:
CLE Hopkins International Airport; Cleveland Metroparks Zoo; Greater Cleveland Aquarium; Back to the Wild; International Women's Air & Space Museum; Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; Great Lakes Science Center; Cleveland Botanical Garden; Cleveland Museum of Art; Holden Arboretum; Cleveland Museum of Natural History; Lake Erie Nature & Science Center; Cleveland History Center; area metro parks; historical societies; police and fire stations; city service departments; beaches; farms; and more!
Families also have the option to enroll through Lakeview Academy, our recognized Nonchartered Nonpublic (NCNP) school. This pathway allows students to be officially enrolled in a private school while preserving the flexibility and individualized approach many home-educating families value.
Families enrolled through Lakeview Academy do not submit a Home Education Notification to their local school district. Instead, enrollment or withdrawal information is reported to the appropriate school district as required for NCNP students. Parents are responsible for this reporting under Ohio law, and Lakeview Academy may submit the required information on their behalf as a convenience.
Families continue to independently select and direct their children’s primary curriculum and learning methods. Lakeview’s classes, physical education, field learning experiences, and other programs are designed to supplement and enrich that family-directed education.
Our approach empowers families to continue their children’s learning in the ways that best fit their individual needs. Lakeview provides meaningful instruction, enrichment, and community experiences, while families remain actively involved in shaping learning beyond our scheduled classes, activities, and field experiences.
Together, this combines the flexibility and personalization of home education with school-like opportunities for structured classes, physical education, field learning, lunchtime, recess, friendship, and community.
These experiences allow individualized learning to flourish while providing meaningful social, educational, and community connections. Together, they foster personal growth, curiosity, a love of learning, and community enrichment, fully bringing “Learning Reimagined” to life.
