Families also have the option to enroll through Lakeview Academy, our recognized Ohio NCNP school.
Our affiliated school, Lakeview Academy, is recognized as a Non-Chartered, Non-Public (NCNP) School by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce. Families enrolled through Lakeview Academy remain responsible for selecting and directing the primary curriculum and learning methods that best meet their child’s needs, both at home and through other educational experiences.
Lakeview does not prescribe a single required curriculum or course sequence. Instead, families provide learning across applicable subject areas through the curricula, resources, experiences, and approaches they select, including:
Language arts; geography, U.S. and Ohio history, and government; mathematics; science; health; physical education; fine arts, including music; first aid, safety, and fire prevention; plus other learning opportunities as they arise.
Because we believe learning can happen naturally throughout everyday life, students encounter countless opportunities each year to explore these subjects through family-directed instruction, structured educational experiences, field learning, community activities, and everyday life.
Lakeview’s in-person classes, physical education, and field learning opportunities are designed to supplement and enrich each family’s independently directed education while providing meaningful learning experiences that can become part of a student’s overall NCNP educational year.
And we have a lot of fun along the way!
Aren't we homeschoolers? Why is there a need for a formal school designation?
This is essentially what the previous "08 School" homeschool option became in October 2023, and forming the school helps us organize and expand everything Lakeview Learning offers.
For families who choose enrollment through Lakeview Academy, the school handles the required reporting to local school districts for students subject to Ohio's compulsory attendance laws. This removes the need for families to submit a yearly Home Education Notification while also making them eligible for benefits such as Ohio's nonchartered nonpublic school tuition tax credit.
